A note from the board:
Judy Ratzan, Board Chair
As we begin a new season, The Prologue Society is delighted to welcome you back for another year of exceptional authors, engaging conversations, and convivial luncheons shared with old and new friends.
Since 1992, The Prologue Society, in partnership with Books & Books, has brought acclaimed nonfiction authors to Miami to share their work, ideas, and perspectives with our community. Each season gives us the opportunity to explore fascinating stories and important topics and we believe the 2026–2027 season will be one of our most exciting yet.
Last season gave us so many memorable moments. We were enthralled by the story of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald, captivated by Jacob Soboroff’s discussion of the Los Angeles fires, and thoroughly enjoyed Jon Meacham’s insights into American history, just to name a few.
This year, we begin on October 1 with Robert Kolker, author of The Vanishing Family: Love, Fate, and the Quest to End Dementia. Kolker takes readers inside the remarkable story of a family with a genetic predisposition to dementia and the decades-long scientific quest their experience helped inspire. His previous book, Hidden Valley Road, was a New York Times bestseller and an Oprah’s Book Club selection.
On November 20, we will welcome Pulitzer Prize–winning author Liaquat Ahamed to discuss his new book, 1873: The Rothschilds, the First Great Depression, and the Making of the Modern World.
These are the kinds of conversations that make The Prologue Society so special. Through compelling nonfiction and thoughtful discussion, we have the opportunity to deepen our understanding of history, culture, science, and the world around us all while enjoying the company of a community brought together by a shared curiosity and love of learning.
We hope you’ll join us for the season ahead. If you haven’t yet renewed your membership or have been considering becoming a member now is the perfect time. You can join by clicking here.
We look forward to welcoming you to the table for another memorable year of authors, ideas, and conversation!
